Gathering Skills

While you may choose to engage with co-investigators or external support to manage aspects of the research process you may also consider building skills in a particular area, methodology or other aspect of research design and conduct. We have compiled a range of short courses and useful resources related to research skills development that may be of interest.

Australian Consortium for Social and Political Research Inc. (ACSPRI)

ACSPRI is a not-for-profit organisation, with a broad aim of promotion and enhancement of social science research and methods in Australia.

ACI - Centre for Healthcare Redesign

The Centre for Healthcare Redesign provides capability development for the NSW Health workforce, enabling frontline staff to successfully redesign and improve service delivery across all aspects of the patient’s journey.

Health Education and Training Institute (HETI)

HETI provides training and education to support clinical and non-clinical staff, trainers, managers and leaders across the NSW health system. Some key trainings to look for are:

University of Sydney - Public Health - Short Courses

Short courses available for direct registration including courses such as Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics and Qualitative health research methods.

Promoting Ethics and Education in Research (PRAXIS) Australia

PRAXIS aims to be a hub that facilitates and fosters the exchange of ideas and sharing of knowledge through education, training and other interactive forums.


Monash University -  Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences Research

Monash Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences is the University’s largest research faculty and has an established reputation for the quality and impact of its research in health care and the biosciences.

The Joanna Briggs Institute offers a wide range of research and education services in the fields of nursing, allied health, medicine, information science and the health sciences.  They offer short courses, online courses and higher degrees.
