HNE Oral Health Services

HNE Oral Health aims to improve the dental health of eligible people in Hunter New England. It provides a range of general and specialist dental services and treatment at Dental Clinics across the region.

Patients are prioritised for care through a triage system. This means that patients with urgent dental conditions are treated sooner, and that there may be wait times for routine dental care.

Hunter New England's Oral Health Service is committed to improving access to oral health services for Aboriginal people.

Am I eligible for public dental services?

Public oral health (dental) services can be accessed by:

All children (under 18 years of age) who are NSW residents are eligible for public dental services in NSW.

Adult NSW residents must be eligible for Medicare and be listed on one of the following Australian Government concession cards:Health Cards

  • Health Care Card
  • Pensioner Concession Card
  • Commonwealth Seniors Health Card

Additional eligibility criteria may apply for dental specialist services or dental services provided in a hospital.

All patients should be prepared to show their Medicare card and/or concession card when they visit a public dental clinic.

Can I claim Child Dental Benefits?

Yes. The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) can be claimed through our service. CDBS is a program for eligible children and teenagers up to $1052 in Medicare benefits over two calendar years. This allows public dental services to claim benefits from Medicare to improve services.

How do I make an Appointment?

Please phone the Oral Health Contact Centre on 1800 679 336, 8:30 am  - 4:30 pm (Monday to Friday) excluding Public Holidays and have your Medicare and concession card details available.
