Local Health Committees

The key role of local health committees is to provide leadership in the local community to ensure health services meet local health needs and ensure the promotion and enhancement of the health of the community.

The Local Health Committee works with the local Health Service Manager, and with key community partners to represent the local community on matters relating to health and health services.

The terms of reference for local health committees provides a full overview of the roles and functions of local health committees.

Most hospitals and health services across the Hunter New England Health District have a local health committee. For more information about getting involved in your local committee, please contact the facility directly, or fill out an enquiry form.
