Maternity services at Maitland Hospital

Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to the Maitland Hospital Birthing Service.

Since 1903 the Maitland Hospital has been caring for women and babies who live in the Maitland, Cessnock, Kurri Kurri and Dungog area, and other women and babies transferred for care from across the Hunter New England Local Health District. Around 1500 babies are born at Maitland Hospital each year.

Our staff at Maitland hospital are committed to providing you and your family a quality service experience as you journey through pregnancy, birth and beginning parenthood and welcome you and your family to our service. If your pregnancy is complicated or you go into labour before 34 weeks pregnant we may discuss with you the need to transfer to JHH.

Our maternity care team are committed to ensuring that you have a safe and positive birth experience and that you have the support you need to begin caring for your newborn baby.
