Prevocational JMO Training Network

Network Overview

Network 12 is the largest prevocational JMO network in NSW, with a wide range of hospitals. The main John Hunter complex includes;

  • The John Hunter Hospital (550 beds), a Level 1 Trauma Centre, with the busiest Emergency Department in NSW, and a Major Tertiary Referral Hospital for northern NSW, and
  • John Hunter Children’s Hospital (100 beds).

​​​​​​​Regional and rural hospitals include Maitland (40 mins away), Tamworth (4 hrs away), Taree (2 hrs away) and Armidale (5 hrs away).

Network 12 facilities are affiliated with the University of Newcastle and University of New England Medical Schools.

  • PGY1 Education Hour
  • Intern Boot Camp
  • Near to Peer Mentor Program
  • PGY2 program
  • Teaching on the Run (Modules 1 & 2)
  • Wellbeing days scheduled with planned activities at each training site
  • Simulation Centre courses
