Dental (Oral Health) Service at Maitland Hospital

The dental service provides dental care to all children (under 18 years of age) and eligible adults.

Services include:

  • Emergency care
  • Examinations
  • General treatment
  • Preventative treatment
  • Managed care and recalls
  • Referrals to specialist dentists

Clinic times: 8.30am - 5pm, Monday to Fridays (excluding public holidays)

How to access the clinic and referral information: To arrange an appointment or make an enquiry, please call the Oral Health Contact Centre on 1800 679 336 between 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

Patients are prioritised for care through a triage system. This means that patients with urgent dental conditions are treated sooner, and there may be wait times for routine dental care.

What to bring to your appointment:  

Children (under 18 years of age)

  • Medicare card

Adults

  • Medicare card and either a Healthcare, Pension or Commonwealth Seniors card.
  • List of any medications.

Duration of appointment/visit: Appointment lengths may vary from 10 minutes to one hour, depending on the treatment being provided.

Dental officers

  • Provides dental treatment to adult patients

Oral health therapists

  • Provide dental treatment to children
  • Provide dental hygiene and cleans to adults

Administrative staff

  • Welcome patients
  • Books appointments
  • Provide administrative support to the clinic

Dental assistants

  • Assist during treatment

Prosthesis

  • Make and fit dentures in the clinic
