HIPS provides a referral service for the Hunter New England region and information regarding this is best accessed via HNE HealthPathways. HIPS requires a Medical Referral from GP or Specialist. Referrals could also be faxed to 02 4922 3893.

HIPS clinicians can provide advice about opioid strategy and general treatment of pain. Request for non-urgent advice can be made by email on HNELHD-HIPS@health.nsw.gov.au or telephone on 02 4922 3435. Pain medicine specialists typically provide medication advice and specialists nurses support patients with medication changes.
