Referrals

All referrals to the John Hunter Hospital Outpatient Service are to be sent through to the JHH Referral Management System.

From 1 May 2020, general practitioners with eligible clinical systems (Medical Director and Best Practice software) will be required to submit referrals to HNE Health and PHN Commissioned services using the SeNT eReferral software.

Referral submission via SeNT eReferral is strongly preferred by the JHH Outpatient Service.

Referrals can also be faxed on 02 4922 3900 (internal fax 23900).

For more information about SeNT eReferral please visit: SeNT eReferral - Community HealthPathways Hunter New England

If you consider your patient's condition to be urgent, please call the on-call registrar for the specialty via the JHH Switch 02 4921 3000 to discuss. Following discussions, if your patient requires an outpatient appointment, please send a written referral via SeNT to the JHH Outpatient Service. Please specify in the referral the appointment plan as discussed with the specialty Registrar.

Speciality Clinics

The JHH Outpatient Service provides a range of specialty clinics. We do not cover Maternity and Gynecology Outpatient Services. A full list of the specialty clinics we provide is available via this link.

A large portion of paediatric clinics occur in the JHH Children's Hospital. Please see HNE Kids Website for information.
