Maitland

Unique heritage setting to explore…relax…revive

Maitland is situated in the lower Hunter Valley with a picturesque landscape and numerous well-preserved historic buildings and is just two hours north of Sydney and 30 minutes from Wine Country.   Or travel 40 minutes to Newcastle or Port Stephens where you can enjoy spectacular coastlines and pristine waterways.

A stunning blend of “funky heritage” and contemporary style, Maitland encapsulates the best of the past and the present. The street scapes of Maitland and surrounds are lined with historical buildings dating from the early 1800s and there are picturesque rural views from a multitude of vantage points. In contrast, modern Maitland is also host to an array of stylish boutiques, pampering service providers, unique guesthouses, gourmet eateries, cultural pursuits and entertainment venues.

There is something for everyone at Maitland. You may choose to rejuvenate and enjoy organic offerings from the plentiful stock of roadside farmers' stalls or select a la carte at one of the finest restaurants in the region, and everything in-between, there is sure to be something to delight your senses.

Visit family owned and operated boutique wineries and sample a splendid drop or two. Some may choose a faster pace taking an aerobatic or Tiger Moth joy flight whilst others may prefer a relaxed walking tour of the heritage landscape.

The City of Maitland covers 396 square kilometres and is surrounded by picturesque and historic villages.  A great example is the historic river port, Morpeth providing the perfect blend of heritage and contemporary. Having preserved its original look and feel Morpeth is now home to over 50 boutiques, numerous cafés, restaurants, producers and galleries.  Or visit the magnificent Hunter Valley Gardens with over 60 acres of spectacular international display gardens that will amaze you with sensational sights, colours, fragrances and adventures.

Maitland provides quality schooling (both public and private) for your children and a range of employment opportunities for your partner in one of the fastest growing non-metropolitan regions in Australia. Only 2 hours from Sydney, 30 minutes from the famous Hunter Valley wine country and a short drive to the blue water wonderland of Port Stephens, Maitland is ideally situated.
