Maternity Services at Armidale Hospital

Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to the Armidale Hospital Birthing Service.

The Armidale Hospital as part of the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) Service welcomes you and your family to our service.

We are committed to providing you and your family a quality service experience as you journey through pregnancy, birth and beginning parenthood. If you pregnancy is complicated or you go into labour before 34 weeks pregnant we may discuss with you the need to transfer to the John Hunter Hospital.

HNELHD remains committed to Closing the Gap for Aboriginal members of the community. We welcome Aboriginal people from all communities.

We acknowledge and embrace the diversity of modern family structures. We welcome families from all cultural backgrounds and are committed to providing culturally appropriate and sensitive care.

Our focus for maternity care is to ensure that it is collaborative, where the woman and her family remain at the centre of the care experience and are actively involved in all decisions about the pregnancy, birth and after your baby is born. All decision making is based on relationships of mutual respect and trust.

Armidale Hospital features an 11-bed maternity unit, with two labour wards and two special care nursery beds.
