In 2008, we established the Joint Medical Program (JMP) – a unique partnership between the University of Newcastle, the University of New England, the Central Coast Local Health District and Hunter New England Health. The Program was designed to better address the serious medical workforce shortages in rural and regional Australia and has facilitated over 1,000 practicing doctors from a variety of backgrounds to support students through hands-on learning – helping to shape the future of the health industry.
Thanks to more than 800 researchers, 590 higher degree research students and state-of-the-art facilities in the Faculty of Health and Medicine, we are able to deliver world-class research and innovation and help provide the best possible outcomes for our students, researchers and the communities we serve.

The Health Education and Training Institute (HETI) provides high quality training and education to support more than 110,000 clinical and non-clinical staff, trainers, managers and leaders across the NSW Health system.
Working closely with Local Health Districts and Specialty Health Networks, health professionals and other public health organisations across NSW, ensures programs are relevant and responsive to the needs of health professionals and patients.

The Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) is the lead agency for innovation in clinical care.
