Research
Research registrar posts exist for both orthopaedics and general surgery.
Research is strongly encouraged and supported.
There are strong ties to the Newcastle University, with two Research Consultants attached to the Department of Surgery. Those interested in research are well catered for by the clinical activities in the Division of Surgery and by the University’s strong reputation and facilities in genetics, familial cancer syndromes, immunology and molecular biology of cancer and wound healing.
John Hunter Hospital is the chief teaching hospital for the University of Newcastle Medical School.
