Mission Statement

Possum Place Child and Vacation Care Centres provide professional support to the provision of health care through high quality care and education for the children of health service employees. Our service provides extended hours and varying types of care.  This is inclusive of respecting and embracing diversity and encouraging open collaboration with all participants.


We believe that children deserve:

  • An environment for children, staff and families to play and learn in, which is intriguing and aesthetically pleasing. One which invites and cultivates children’s curiosity and imaginations.
  • A supported learning environment where the routines and curriculum are flexible and encourage children’s independence, motivation and self esteem.
  • An educational program which fosters their capabilities and potential from infancy onwards.
  • Opportunities to engage and participate as collaborative partners in learning processes within a social context.
  • Supported opportunities to embrace and honour diversity and individuality.
  • A curriculum which is founded upon children’s strengths and their emerging interests, providing opportunities for children to explore, initiate, investigate, discover, interact, wonder, create, problem solve and engage in collaborative projects across all spectrums of learning.

We believe that families deserve:

  • Opportunity to exchange relevant information pertinent to the care and education of their child in and ongoing and regular basis in a variety of formats.
  • To develop partnerships with staff which encourages and fosters collaboration within all areas of the service.
  • Support which encompasses and acknowledges respect for their values, beliefs and child-rearing practices with provision of resources and information to assist the family structure.
  • Current information about, and opportunities to collaborate in the development and review of the centre philosophy, policies, procedures, practices and goals.


We believe that centre staff deserve:

  • Respect for their professional skills, knowledge and experience and their valuable contribution to the provision of community health services.
  • Support and respect from families and the organisation for their diverse values, beliefs and professional practices.
  • To work in a safe, healthy and friendly environment
