Clinical Training
HIPS are accredited by the Faculty of Pain Medicine to provide specialist training for a Provisional Fellow in Pain Management. HIPS also offers training opportunities for physiotherapy, psychology, nursing and medical students.
Continuing Education
HIPS staff are regularly involved in providing education in regard to pain management to a wide range of professional and community groups.

GP Sessions
Regular general practitioner education/discussion meetings take place, often with pharmaceutical company sponsorship. The development of links with local general practitioners is seen as the essential component of pain management strategy across the Hunter region.
Nursing Education
In collaboration with the Acute Pain Service, HIPS offer frequent nursing pain education sessions at all hospitals within the Hunter New England Area Health Service, to the University of Newcastle Nursing Faculty Undergraduates, NSW College of Nursing Post-graduate courses in Pain Management and other community groups.
