Helping media cover health stories
Hunter New England Health has many resources available to media with both story ideas and ready-to-go news items.
We also have the Reporting Suicide and Mental Illness Guidelines 
(pdf) 939K available. For more information about reporting on mental illness, visit www.mindframe-media.info .
Besides the regular media releases we send out each week, we also provide:

A weekly media diary which is distributed each Friday afternoon. This one page alert outlines upcoming events and health weeks for the following week, including seminars and presentations which may be of interest.
The Hunter Medical Research Institute , a partnership between Hunter New England Health and the University of Newcastle, produces an annual newsletter, Searcher , which is also mailed to all local media.
Hunter New England Health sponsors the Joint Medical Newsletter, a quarterly publication coordinated by Kathy Byrne at Newcastle University. This is a great source of stories - please ask Kathy to add you to the mailing list if you don't already receive this publication.
