The MPS train pulls into Werris Creek

Hunter New England Health (HNE Health) is pleased to announce the next stage of planning for a new Multi Purpose Service at Werris Creek is progressing well.

NSW Health has endorsed the Werris Creek Health Services Plan, which was completed in June, following a number of public meetings and consultation forums held in the town last year.

Hunter New England Health, Capital Works Project Officer Nancy Wilson said a team of consultants have been appointed and will meet with the community and staff of the Werris Creek TODAY to discuss the future planning and healthcare needs for the town.

“It’s an exciting time for the residents of Werris Creek. This part of the planning stage is expected to take around 10 months to complete, so its very important HNE Health gets as much information from key stakeholders before the project takes the next step,” Ms Wilson said.

The consultant team includes a health facility planner, architect, engineers and a cost planner. The team will prepare a report to be reviewed by NSW Government, if approved the project will move into the detailed design and construction phases.

“The planning for a new MPS will help meet the future needs of the Werris Creek community,” she said.

If the recommendations of the consultant team are approved, the new MPS facility could include:

• A residential aged-care facility
• Hospital beds
• First aid and treatment service
• Community health services
• General consultation rooms
• Day care for frail and aged
• Provision for Telehealth facilities
