Happy Birthday, Muswellbrook Hospital Auxiliary!
For the past 80 years, the Muswellbrook Hospital Auxiliary has worked tirelessly to raise money to provide equipment and support services at their local health service.
On Tuesday 21 October, Hunter New England Health (HNE Health) will pay tribute to the valuable role the members of Auxiliary play at Muswellbrook Hospital hosting a morning tea to recognise more than 80 years of service.
President of the Muswellbrook Hospital Auxiliary Sue Durham said Auxiliary members work to improve patient care in the area by fundraising for additional medical equipment.
“It’s all about improving patient care. Over the years the Auxiliary has raised thousands of dollars which has made life easier for patients in hospital,” Mrs Durham said.
In June this year, the Auxiliary held a charity bowls day, raising around $10,000, which was used to buy a heart monitor and a vital signs monitor for the hospital.
“We were overwhelmed by community support and that’s something that hasn’t changed over the past 80 years,” she said.
The Hospital Auxiliary also helps to raise awareness of local health service resources and promote key messages for good health.
General Manager of the Upper Hunter Cluster Debbie Jaggers said the Hospital Auxiliary volunteers are a very important asset to Hunter New England Health, providing the driving force behind much needed fundraising initiatives, as well as providing support to patients and their families during often difficult times.
A morning tea will be held on Tuesday 21 October from 10.00am to 12noon in the Muswellbrook District Health Service Library on level 2.
