Look Great 2008, Feel Fine 2009

19 June 2008

The week of 26-30 August 2008 might just be the week which changes your life.

Inverell Community Health staff are planning an action packed week with information, free activities and demonstrations all aimed at getting members of the Inverell community more interested in healthy lifestyle activities.

Inverell Community Health Nurse Tania Mills said the health message being promoted throughout the week is that if we put a bit of effort into 2008 to look after ourselves, we are more likely to feel fine in 2009.

Tania said the whole of Community Health is getting involved in the week-long program, and she strongly encourages everyone to put the date into your diaries.

"There will be something for everyone during the week – with specific groups within the community being targeted on each of the five different theme days," she said.

Tuesday 26 August – Seniors Day

Wednesday 27 August – Family Day

Thursday 28 August – Aboriginal Day

Friday 29 August – Women’s Day

Saturday 30 August – Men’s Day

"There is an interactive display to walk us through safety in the house and many guest speakers over the five days including a very interesting discussion on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and menopause.

"Cooking demonstrations will be conducted each day, as well as lots of different exercise opportunities.

"Who would have thought exercise could be this fun? We’ll prove it can be," Tania said.

All services that are available at Inverell Community Health will be showcased to help people to know when, why and how they can receive community-based free health care and support.

There will also be other service providers providing visitors with loads of information relating to other local services and healthy lifestyle opportunities.

All Look Great in 2008 – Feel Fine in 2009 activities will be taking place at the Inverell Town Hall and entry is free each day.

"Come for one day, come for all. It’s up to you," Tania said.

Morning and afternoon teas will be supplied.

A program of events will be available from early August, but for anyone wanting more information now, please contact Inverell Community Health on 6721 9600.
