Guyra Auxiliary turns up trumps for MPS
19 June 2008 It seems that all the Guyra MPS has to do is to make it known that they need something, and the local United Hospital Auxiliary (UHA) is setting their sights on making it happen. So it was with the latest round of donations from the UHA, which recently donated $1,900 worth of equipment to update equipment and resources for MPS staff. Guyra MPS manager Tessa Capsanis said the range of purchases will benefit almost every group of staff in the health service. A pulse oxymeter suitable for use with children was the major purchase. Ms Capsanis said even though the MPS is not set up for long term care of children, the pulse oxymeter will support initial assessments of children to allow appropriate treatment options to be instigated. "Other items purchased by the Auxiliary include a replacement vacuum cleaner for domestic staff to make their job easier, a DVD player and CD player for residents and visitors, and medical dictionaries which will enhance knowledge and encourage nurses to research and maintain an interest in the various illnesses and conditions that patients present with. "We are constantly amazed at what this small band of fund raisers can achieve through street stalls and catering for clearing sales. "We thank them most sincerely, and thank the community for supporting their fundraising efforts. It benefits us all in the long run," she said.
