Highs and lows for Quirindi patients

Quirindi District Health Service now boasts a state-of the art, height-adjustable x-ray table for improved patient care, thanks to the generosity of the Quirindi District Health Service Ladies Auxiliary.

The recently installed height adjustable table means greater comfort and safety for patients.

Northern Chief Radiographer for Hunter New England Health Brad Hansen will officially thank the members of the Ladies Auxiliary at a function to be held at Quirindi District Health Service today, Wednesday 23 January at 1.30pm.

“The adjustable table can be lowered to approximately 60 centimetres from the floor which provides the opportunity for the patient to lie on the table more easily and safely,” Mr Hansen said.

“Once the patient is comfortably settled on the table, the height is raised by the radiographer to the correct position and the patient is moved into the final position by moving the floating top,” he said.

The previous table used by radiographers at Quirindi District Health Service had a fixed table height, with limited table top movement.

The new features of height adjustment and floating top now ensure the task of getting onto the table is a safer process for patients.

“A lowered table is safer for our patients and once on the table, the task of positioning the patient for their x-ray is also significantly easier and safer for the radiographer, as there is no requirement to physically move the patient into position,” Mr Hansen said.

Today’s hand-over will be an opportunity for the staff of Quirindi District Health Service and Hunter New England Health to acknowledge and thank the Women’s Auxiliary for the contribution and support toward the health service.

“This new table is a significant enhancement to the x-ray service at Quirindi, and will be a boost for the local community and surrounding areas,” Mr Hansen said.

“On behalf of the staff of Quirindi District Health Service, I would like to thank all of the dedicated community members who have donated both time and funds to make the purchase of this equipment possible,” he said.

Media are welcome to attend the hand-over. Please present to the front desk at Quirindi District Health Service at 1.30pm, today, Wednesday 23 January.
