Hunter New England Health welcomes the appointment of Melissa Mills as the new Manager of Tamworth and Nundle Community Health.
Acting General Manager of the Peel Cluster Carole Young said the appointment is good news for both communities.
“Melissa is an experienced health professional with a proven track record in management, as well as hands on clinical work,” Mrs Young said.
“She brings with her a wealth of experience and a determination which will further enhance the strength of service delivery in Tamworth and Nundle”.
.
Melissa began her career in 1985 as a speech pathologist at Blacktown District Hospital in Sydney and then worked for the Commonwealth Rehabilitation Service for several years, managing community based rehabilitation services in Sydney and Southern NSW.
She has worked in a range of clinical and management roles in the Tamworth region since 1993, including Manager of the Gunnedah Community Health Service, Speech Pathologist at Manilla Health Service and most recently as Manager of Organisational Capability and Learning for Hunter New England Health.
Melissa said she believes her extensive experience in frontline health service delivery gives her a firm understanding of how she can further influence the way community health is delivered to people in the region.
“I’m looking forward to working towards better health outcomes for the Aboriginal community, integrating aged care services and further developing child and family health services,” Melissa said.
“After many years working in support roles in health, it’s satisfying to know I’m back in a role that will allow me to influence service delivery in Tamworth and Nundle,” Melissa said.
