National Hepatitis Awareness Week – Are you number 12?

One in 12 people worldwide are living with chronic Hepatitis B or C, making the virus more prevalent than any cancer. Despite this, most people know little about the serious disease. 

 

This week is National Hepatitis Awareness Week (19-26 May) and as part of this week staff from John Hunter Hospital’s Viral Hepatitis Service and Newcastle Community Health’s Harm Minimisation Service are encouraging the community to visit their community booth at Charlestown Square to learn more about Hepatitis.

 

What: Community Booth to raise awareness of Hepatitis as part of National Hepatitis Awareness Week.

 

Who:  Staff from the John Hunter Hospital Viral Hepatitis Service and Newcastle Community Health’s Harm Minimisation Service will be on hand to raise awareness of Viral Hepatitis including prevalence, prevention and treatment and to promote a healthy lifestyle.

 

When: Thursday 21 May 2009 from 9am to 9pm.

 

Where: Centre Court, Charlestown Square
