Four new staff welcomed at Glen Innes Hospital
31 March 2009
Glen Innes Health Service has recently welcomed four new staff members to its dedicated and hardworking team.
Two midwives, a social worker and a physiotherapist have joined the ranks since the start of the year, with Glen Innes Health Service Manager Cathryn Jones saying all four staff had settled in well to their new roles.
“These four team members are a much-welcomed addition, particularly the physiotherapist who has filled a position that was vacant for 18 months,” Ms Jones said.
“Glen Innes Health Service prides itself on providing high quality care, and it is great to see our consistent recruitment efforts paid off as we have secured the best, most highly skilled people for these positions.”
Midwives Sallie Leaney and Janet Tait have more than 20 years of midwifery experience between them. Their appointments have enabled Glen Innes Hospital to now offer an uninterrupted maternity services roster, offering 24/7 coverage for local patients.
Sallie worked in the maternity unit at Grafton Hospital for four years before relocating to Armidale in 2008. She started her permanent part-time role at Glen Innes on 2 February.
Janet has more than 40 years of nursing experience and spent time doing agency work in several country towns including Longreach and Moree, before taking on the Glen Innes role. She started in her full-time position on 9 February.
Katherine Bernoff is a generalist social worker who relocated to Glen Innes from Narrabri. She joined the Glen Innes team as a full-time staff member on 27 January, and also offers her services to Tenterfield and Emmaville health services. Katherine has 35 years of social work experience.
Full-time physiotherapist Stacey Budda-Deen recently moved back to the New England area after spending more than 10 years in Sydney. Stacey completed a physiotherapy degree at the Cumberland Campus of The University of Sydney, and subsequently spent many years working at the Liverpool Hospital. She also worked at the Westmead Rehabilitation Centre and for PPS Physiotherapy at Carlingford.
Stacey, who began her position on 9 March - will provide physiotherapy services for inpatients at Glen Innes Hospital and Emmaville MPS. She will also provide community services for a variety of orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, neurological, paediatric, and women’s health conditions. Community members should see their GP for a referral to the service.
