Info session for new Quirindi support group

20 July 2009

Quirindi Health Service would like to invite any interested community members to an information session regarding the launch of a new community support group.

The support group will focus on supporting locals of any age who are a carer or have experienced the effects of a neurological disorder (for example: stroke, Motor Neurone Disease, Cerebral Palsy and Multiple Sclerosis).

“You may not have experienced the effects of a neurological disorder yourself or care for anyone that has, however, there’s a fair chance you know of somebody that is in this situation,” Speech Pathologist at Quirindi Community Health Jenni Simpson said.

“By attending the group you may be able to help them link into the support group.”

There will be a number of guest speakers at the information session. These include:
• Rachel Peake, Stroke Care Coordinator, Hunter New England Health
• Ruth Jones, Community Support Worker, Multiple Sclerosis Society
• A member of the Tamworth Stroke Support Group.

The information session will be held on Thursday 30 July 2009 at 6pm for approximately one hour.  It will be held at the Ingall Centre in Nowland Street, with tea/coffee and nibbles provided.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Quirindi Community Health Centre on 6746 0215 to register your interest for catering purposes.
