More than a get together with the girls!

A new Women’s Health Clinic will commence at Quirindi Community Health Service on 21 January providing healthcare advice for the community.

Over the course of the year, a Registered Nurse from Gunnedah Community Health Service will hold a series of clinics aimed at improving the health of women in the district.

Team Manager at Quirindi Community Health Service Michelle Gallagher said the clinic will be run by a fully-qualified, female healthcare professional, Susan Helps.

“Ms Helps will be able to conduct pap smears, give advice on birth control as well as showing women how to examine their own breasts for signs of breast cancer,” Ms Gallagher said.

“It’s so important women have a pap smear every two years, it’s the easiest way to identify cervical cancer and early detection is the key,” she said.

The Women’s Health Clinic is free and will be held in the rooms at Quirindi Community Health.

“There are five appointments available each day the clinic is held, so we are encouraging women to get in quick to make an appointment. We expect the clinic will be very popular.”

Members of the public should contact Quirindi Community Health Service on (02) 6746 0215 to make an appointment.
