Lights, strings, country music action!
15 January 2009
Tamworth Hospital will kick off the 2009 Tamworth Country Music Festival tomorrow (Friday 16 January) with the annual raising of its giant guitar.
This is the 27th time Tamworth Hospital will raise the 10 metre tall guitar – an event that marks the start of the festival every year.
The guitar’s 62 lights are turned on every night, a shining celebration of our country music heritage that can be seen from many parts of the city throughout the Country Music Festival.
General Manager of Tamworth and Armidale Hospitals Fergus Fitzsimons said Tamworth Hospital and its staff were proud to continue supporting the festival.
“Tamworth Hospital has a long and proud tradition supporting Tamworth and the annual Country Music Festival,” Mr Fitzsimons said.
“This year we’re pleased to let country music lovers know 2008 Toyota Starmaker Talia Wittmann will be here to help us raise the guitar and treat us to a few songs from her album Reckless Side Of Me.
“We look forward to continuing our dedication to the community by getting behind the festivities such as the raising of our giant guitar and once again entering a float in the 2009 Country Music Cavalcade.”
A $3 lunchtime barbecue during the guitar raising will also be held to raise money for Tamworth Hospital.
Media are invited to attend the guitar raising beginning at 12 noon tomorrow, Friday 16 January 2009.
