Life begins at menopause

21 February, 2008

Women contemplating life after menopause will have the chance to learn all about the process during a free community webcast from The Jean Hailes Foundation for Women's Health on Wednesday 5 March.

Clinical Nurse Consultant for Women's Health Jenny Bath, based at Tamworth Community Health, said the telecast would be an opportunity for all women to learn how life can change for the better after menopause.

“For some women, menopause can be a challenging time of life but armed with appropriate information these challenges can often be made much easier to deal with,” Jenny said.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for women to hear the latest about menopausal symptoms, herbal, hormone and lifestyle options, emotional health and libido issues from leading Australian experts.”

Jenny and Hunter New England Health Clinical Nurse Consultant Continence Advisor Lorraine Dickson will host the evening titled It’s Your Journey: Life Begins at Menopause. The night will include addresses from key-note speakers gynaecologist Dr Elizabeth Farrell, psychologist Dr Mandy Deeks and naturopath Ms Sandra Villella.

If you would like any specific questions answered by the telecast speakers on the night, Jenny would be happy to forward them on to the speaker one week prior to the event (by Wednesday 27 February).

The free telecast will be held at Tamworth Community Health Centre, Johnston House on the ground of Tamworth Hospital. Doors will open at 7pm and the webcast will start at 7.30pm sharp, Wednesday 5 March.

A light supper will be provided after the webcast and both Jenny and Lorraine will be available to answer questions about menopause.

Bookings are essential for the free session and can be made by contacting Jenny Bath on 6767 8171 at the Tamworth Community Health Centre.
