Tamworth’s voice on health

If you live in Tamworth and have something to say about health services in your city, turn to the Tamworth Local Health Advisory Committee (LHAC).
The Tamworth LHAC is made up of nine representatives with a passion for delivering quality health services to the Tamworth community.
Tamworth and Armidale hospitals General Manager Fergus Fitzsimons said the committee provides a vital link between the organisation and the people it serves.
“Local health advisory committees perform a vital role in advising and assisting the health service to continually improve services,” Mr Fitzsimons said.
“It gives the community another way of telling us – through their representatives - what we need to do to meet the needs of the community.”
Tamworth LHAC Chair Patrick O’Connor said the committee is a well-informed group, and while some members had a professional background in health there was always a need to have more input from Tamworth residents.
“The only way to make sure health services meet the needs of the community is to listen to the opinion of the people living and working in Tamworth,” Mr O’Connor said.
“In order to give worthwhile feedback to Hunter New England Health, we need to hear what you think of your health services.”

“We are all very accessible and certainly all very interested to hear from the community,” Mr O’Connor said.
Local Health Advisory Committees are a part of Hunter New England Health’s Community Engagement Network, which includes Community Forums on Health and the Area Health Advisory Committee.
