Same nursing service - just a new number
19 December 2008
Community nursing services for the people of Clarence Town will continue as normal in the New Year, despite a change of office location.
The service has operated from Clarence Town since at least the early 1990s and provides valuable nursing care for clients in their own homes.
Acting Community Health Manager for East Maitland Community Health Maree Auer said a new telephone number will be the only change people using the service will notice.
“The community nurse provides a valuable service to the community of Clarence Town and there are no plans to change that,” Mrs Auer said.
“We have recently relocated the administrative office for the community nurse, which is now located at Dungog Hospital, rather than its previous location at the Clarence Town Community Centre.”
Mrs Auer said the community nurse sees patients in their own homes and does not conduct clinics or see patients at her office.
“This is an administrative change only. The only difference for the community is a new telephone number.
Patients or clients of the community nursing service should now call
(02) 4931 2000 to contact the community nurse or make an appointment.
“The community nursing service has always operated as part of the East Maitland Community Health Service,” she said. “It will remain for the people of Clarence Town and there will be no disruption to the community.”
If anyone would like to make a referral for any of the services offered through East Maitland Community Health, they can contact the same number –
(02) 4931 2000.
There will be the usual service closures over the Christmas-New Year period.
The East Maitland Community Health referral service will close on Thursday and Friday, 25 and 26 December and reopen at 9am on Monday, 29 December 2008. It will also be closed on Thursday and Friday, 1 and 2 January 2009 and reopen at 9am on Monday, 5 January 2009.
Any new community nursing referrals received after 12pm on Tuesday 23 December 2008 will not be seen until after Monday 29 December 2008, and any new referrals received after 12pm on 30 December 2008 will not be seen until after Monday 5 January 2009.
