Off-site parking closed for Christmas
Hunter New England Health’s off-site parking and shuttle bus service from Energy Australia Stadium to the
The service will not operate between Wednesday 24 December 2008 and Friday 2 January 2009. Normal services will resume on Monday 5 January 2009.
Director of Corporate Services James Brown said the shuttle bus service is being temporarily suspended over the Christmas/New Year period.
“During the holiday period, it is much easier to find a park at the Rankin Park Campus because we don’t have as many people coming into hospital and many staff take holidays,” Mr Brown said.
Mr Brown said patronage of the free off-site parking and shuttle bus was continuing to prove popular with the community.
“We’ve received some very positive feedback from members of the community using the service, and we currently have around 120 users of the service each day,” Mr Brown said.
“We’re very pleased that people are taking advantage of the service and we hope that even more people will use it in 2009,” Mr Brown said.
When the off-site parking service resumes on Monday 5 January, members of the public attending appointments or visiting any of the hospitals on the Rankin Park Campus, can park their car at Energy Australia Stadium and catch a free shuttle bus to the hospital.
A parking attendant is on site at Energy Australia Stadium throughout the day to maintain the security of vehicles. The service operates between 9.00am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, with the shuttle bus completing one round trip to the hospital every 40 minutes.
The community is also advised that Car Park 6, located near the Royal Newcastle Centre on the Rankin Park Campus will be temporarily closed between 24 December 2008 and 2 January 2009 because of reduced demand for parking over Christmas.
“Visitors to the campus will still be able to access the other visitor parking over this period,” Mr Brown said.
