Christmas Service Directory available on-line
Hunter New England Health is reminding the community of changes in general health services over the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
Hunter New England Health Chief Executive Dr Nigel Lyons said health services may have altered service hours or temporarily close over the holiday period and it is important that people are aware of these changes.
“Hunter New England Health has developed a Christmas/New Year Service Directory to inform the community of service availability during this time. The Service Directory can be accessed online at www.hnehealth.nsw.gov.au,” Dr Lyons said.
“Members of the community who do not have internet access can enquire about service availability by contacting Hunter New England Health on 1800 063 635.”
Dr Lyons said many community health services will also have reduced service hours and staffing levels over Christmas and New Year or will temporarily close during the period.
“Community health clients with any urgent matters are asked to visit their General Practitioner or their local hospital during this time, if their regular service provider is not available,” Dr Lyons said.
While some services will be closing over Christmas, Hunter New England Health’s Emergency Departments are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
“In the event of an emergency, always dial 000 or go to your local Emergency Department,” Dr Lyons said.
