Commissioning of the new Narrabri District health service underway
Work is continuing on the new Narrabri District Health Service over Christmas with the aim of having the new centre fully operational in the new year.
Narrabri District Health Service Manager Sharon Simpson said staff are working hard to prepare the new facility to accept patients by cleaning and moving in equipment.
“We are currently in the commissioning period, which is when we make sure the new health service is completely ready for business to commence.
“The focus is on making sure everything is in place to ensure a safe and smooth operation for staff and patients,” Ms Simpson said.
Ms Simpson said while the commissioning is proceeding well, there have been isolated technical issues with the telephony systems’ Wi-Fi network which are being addressed.
“We are ensuring that the communication system within the hospital is completely reliable before we look at moving patients across,” Ms Simpson said.
“In the meantime, Narrabri District Hospital will continue to provide the excellent care we offer to our community,” she said.
Ms Simpson said staff are doing everything they can to open the new health service as soon as possible.
“We hope we will be in a position to let the community know the date the hospital will start accepting patients soon.
“We know the community is really looking forward to the facility opening, and so are we, which is why we are working to ensure that everything is in place and completely operational so that we can open our doors as soon as possible.”
