Tablelands celebrates quality

Staff from our Tablelands Cluster will be recognised for their commitment to improving quality of patient care and service delivery at the 2011 Tableland Cluster Quality Awards being held tomorrow.

General Manager Wendy Mulligan said the Tablelands Cluster Quality Awards was a chance to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our local health staff and acknowledge their hard work throughout the year.

“The awards are an annual event and each year we are impressed by the way our staff put their heart and soul into making changes to improve the care we provide patients,” Wendy said.

“Each of the award nominees has gone above and beyond the call of duty to improve the life of a patients and it is a great pleasure to recognise them for these efforts.”

Category: Promoting Health  

• Armidale Diabetes Service - Healthy Steps: Initiating a walking group for the Armidale community to promote health and social interaction.

Category: Improving Quality and Safety

• Venneta Lewis, Endorsed Enrolled Nurse Audiometrist -  Evaluation of the Armidale Nurse Audiometry Service

• Jaclyn Lewis, TACP Physiotherapist and Lara Fernandez, TACP Occupational Therapist - Frail to Fabulous: The Transitional Aged Care Program way.

Category : Improving Access

• Speech Pathology, Armidale Community Health Centre-   Reducing Non Arrival Appointment Rates

• Helen Malcolm, Speech Pathologist in Charge and Rebecca Hembry,Speech Pathologist - Speech Pathology for Aboriginal Children

Category:  Improving the Patient Experience

• Michael Moore, Health Service Manager, Tenterfield and John Brown, Registered Nurse, Tenterfield - The redesign of Tenterfield Emergency Department

• Toni Clifton, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Armidale Community Nursing team - The setting up of the Uralla Wound Clinic to improve access to health services and improve the management of wound care for the Uralla Community

Member for Tablelands, Richard Torbay MP, will be presenting the awards to staff.  He will also be presenting Tableland Cluster’s Certificate for four years Accreditation.


The presentation is being held at Glen Innes District Health Service on Wednesday 26 October at 2.30pm.
