Join Tilli Trekkers on their walk to heart health

With a mission to keep heart disease at bay, the Tilli Trekkers have planned another walk around Tanilba Bay to allow locals and their friends the chance to socialise and exercise.

The Tilli Trekkers, who have been walking as a group since April 2009, walk every Tuesday and Thursday in the local area. Their next trek is planned for next week, Thursday March 24, 2011 at 9am from the Tanilba Bay Habitat.

With over 70 registered walkers, this event is sure to be a fun way to exercise, meet new people and socialise.

Rural Primary Health Care Nurse for the Tilligerry Peninsula, Jennifer Battrick says the Tilli Trekkers are a great group of people who aim to maintain health and social wellbeing..

“Everyone is there to have a good time, make some new friends and keep their waistlines and hearts healthy,” she said.

“Our treks are also a great opportunity for trekkers to witness some of our area’s most beautiful scenery and creatures. We often spot a koala or two on our way around the waterfront of Mallabulla and Tanilba Bay.”

The Tilli Trekkers are the largest walking group represented at the Heart Foundation Walking District Walk held at Lambton Park late in 2010.

“The Tilli Trekkers are always open to meeting new people and are happy to sign up new members whenever they get the chance. Our next walk will be an enjoyable occasion for people of any age,” Ms Battrick said.

Tilli Trekkers next walk – Tanilba Bay Habitat including guided walk along the board walks and sand tracks.

Registrations at 9am, finish at 10:30am followed by morning tea at Tilligerry RSL Club.
