New Quirindi GP starts soon
Hunter New England Health is informing the community that Quirindi’s new General Practitioner will start work from next week.
Dr Bo Wong starts on Monday 30 August 2010 and will also provide medical services at Quirindi Health Service and HealthOne Quirindi when it opens next year.
Dr Wong’s GP practice will be temporarily located in the existing Quirindi Community Health building, with access off Hanaford Drive. Appointments can be made now by telephoning 6746 0215.
Quirindi Health Service Manager Luke Sams said having a GP located on site at Community Health starts the transition to a new, more integrated health service.
“HealthOne Quirindi will bring all health services together into one location including General Practitioners and community health,” Mr Sams said.
“It will enable doctors, nursing and allied health staff to work closely together on the one site, adjacent to Quirindi Community Hospital.
“The purpose built HealthOne facility is due for completion in April 2011 and Dr Wong and other staff will relocate to the new facility then.”
Services at HealthOne Quirindi will focus on education, prevention, early diagnosis, better management of chronic conditions and early intervention services.
“It will also enhance the capacity to attract and retain GP services,” Mr Sams said.
“Dr Wong is an experienced doctor and his arrival will also help alleviate the pressure on existing medical services in the area.
“He will work in cooperation with Dr Sokiah Krishnan, who has provided high-quality GP services to the local community for many years, and together they will work with other HNE Health clinicians to provide a range of primary health services.”
Dr Wong was recruited by Medical Directions Australia (MDA) on behalf of HNE Health and the local community.
