Feel like a Star for a Day
Are you a Carer who needs some time out for yourself to have some fun?
Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre (CRCC) at Wallsend is hosting a ‘Stars in the Cinema’ day at Muswellbrook and Lake Macquarie to celebrate National Carers Week. CRCC hopes to give Carers some time out to have some fun and catch up with other Carers.
Carers look after family members or friends who are frail aged, have dementia or a disability, a life limiting illness, a mental illness or an illness of addiction.
Senior Manager Chronic Disease and Aged Care Sue Ayre said while we all find it hard to make time for outings, being a Carer can sometimes add extra stress.
“Carers need not worry about the stress of finding respite, as the Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre can offer assistance and advice. The Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre can organise respite for Carers, so that they may attend the cinema day knowing the person they care for is well looked after,” Ms Ayre said.
“Our Carers will be treated like the ‘true stars’ they are, whilst enjoying a cinematic experience with a delicious morning tea. Many local services and business have contributed generously to make this event a success,” Ms Ayre said.
The ‘Stars in the Cinema’ event will be held in Muswellbrook and Boolaroo.
• A short film festival will be presented at Muswellbrook Workers Club on Tuesday 19 October at 10am.
• Mama Mia will feature at Lake Cinema, Boolaroo on Thursday 21 October at 10am. The day will include a delicious morning tea and lucky door prizes.
Carers are urged to contact Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre on 1800 052 222 as soon as possible to secure their place, as tickets are not available at the door.
