Walcha MPS farewells Dr Tuan Nguyen

Walcha doctor Tuan Nguyen, who has provided support to Walcha Multi Purpose Service (MPS) for the past three years, has left Walcha to take up a position at a GP practice in Forster.

Before Dr Nguyen left he was able to assist Hunter New England Health to secure a replacement doctor, Dr Jason Xie, who will provide medical coverage at Walcha MPS and provide General Practitioner services to the community.

Dr Nguyen said Walcha had been a wonderful community to live in and he had experienced strong support from the staff of Walcha MPS in his time serving the health service.

“Myself and my family have enjoyed our time in Walcha, however we have decided to move on,” Dr Nguyen said.

“I have enjoyed running my practice, and the support I have received from staff at Walcha MPS has been second to none.”

Walcha MPS manager Kristine Smith said Dr Nguyen was a great asset to Walcha and the health service, providing on-call cover to the service while maintaining his own GP practice.

“Dr Nguyen has played a big part in helping us maintain strong heath services here in Walcha both at the Multi-Purpose Service and in the community through his private practice,” Ms Smith said.

“Dr Nguyen has been very concerned about the work he leaves behind, and has been assisting HNE Health in attracting a GP to take on his practice and the visiting medical officer duties at the MPS.

“We wish Dr Nguyen all the best, and thank him once again for his service to Walcha.”
