Armidale Community Health employee award

Team work, commitment and caring will be recognised as part of Armidale Community Health’s Employee of the Year Award presentation tomorrow (Tuesday 23 February).
Victoria Macnaughton, Acting Manager of the Child Youth Family Team, was voted by her peers as 2009 Employee of the Year because of her caring approach to providing community health services.
Tablelands Cluster General Manager Wendy Mulligan said the Employee of the Year program was especially important because of the involvement of all staff at the Centre in nominating the winner.
“Throughout the year, staff nominate exemplary colleagues for the title of Employee of the Month, and then vote for the Employee of the Year from these winners,” Ms Mulligan said.
“Victoria is a very caring person, who constantly impresses people she works with. She is a great leader and team member, and is admired for her level-headed approach to her work.”
Victoria began her nursing career in Sydney in 1982. Health has always “been in her blood”, as she comes from a long line of family members who have worked in medicine and health care.
Victoria has 12 years of community nursing experience. Prior to that she was a midwife and a women's health nurse, having completed a Graduate Diploma in Independent Practice at Sydney University in 1996. She has 28 years of health experience in total.
Acting in the role of Child Youth and Family Manager has been a great opportunity, according to Victoria, who said she genuinely enjoys the challenge of not only managing a team but also contributing to the bigger picture of the health service.
“The Child Youth Family Team are a dynamic group, committed to their specific fields and drawing on their individual and combined talents to achieve the best for the young people that they see,” Victoria said.
“Armidale Community Health is small enough to be friendly and big enough to provide excellent, well-respected services to the local population, and I’m proud to be a part of the team here.
“I was very surprised to hear that I had been voted 2009 Employee of the Year, and also very humbled.”
