3 May 2010

-Heart Foundation Heart Week ~ 2 May to 8 May 2010-

The 2010 RUSH conference, a Rural Update in Stroke and Heart, will be held in Tamworth this Wednesday 5 May 2010.

The conference will offer two sessions. The daytime program will be held at the University Department of Rural Health Lecture Theatre on the Tamworth Hospital campus. The program will address a comprehensive range of issues relevant to the care of heart and stroke patients such as heart surgery and the latest management of stroke and heart attack. The program will also focus on the return of patients to the community feeling safe, comfortable and ready for independence.

The evening program at the Quality Hotel Powerhouse is an excellent opportunity for those working in General Practice to network with key expert clinicians and to participate in discussions regarding the emergency management of heart and stroke, through to rehabilitation and return home.

A variety of groups of allied health professionals involved in patient care are represented and participating. Key speakers will include local Neurologist Dr James Hughes, local Emergency Physician Dr Phil Hungerford, Sydney Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr Peter Brady, Diabetes Specialist Dr Sergio Diez Alvarez from Armidale, and Clinical Issues Manager for the Heart Foundation, Cate Ferry.
