21 May 2010

Hunter New England Health is pleased to announce that the next stage of detailed planning for a new Multi Purpose Service (MPS) at Werris Creek is progressing well.
The candidates for project management, cost management and design positions linked to the MPS have been short listed recently.
The tender process for appointment of the project manger and the cost manger has begun, and the successful proponents will be announced by early June 2010.
The shortlisted design positions candidates will be asked to tender for the project, with the successful proponents to be announced by July 2010.
The new MPS facility is expected to include:
• Level 1 first aid and treatment service
• 4 Low Care hospital beds (including respite and palliative care)
• 10 High Care Residential Aged Care Beds
• 2 Low Care Residential Aged Care Beds
• A range of community health services, provided by local and visiting staff
• Flexible consulting and examination rooms for use by the GP, practice nurse and other visiting health professionals from the one building
• Home and Community Care (HACC)
• Aboriginal Health Services
• Aged Day Care Centre
• Early Childhood Health Clinic
• TeleHealth facilities
• Clinical and operational support services
• Staff accommodation
Werris Creek Health Service Manager, Kylie Marquart, said the appointment of project management and design consultants would mark a significant step forward for the project.
“The planning for an MPS will help meet the future health care needs of the Werris Creek community,” she said.
“Many community members and staff have been instrumental in the initial planning phase, and this progress has been eagerly anticipated so it’s great to see it becoming a reality.”
