Come behind the scenes at John Hunter Hospital
Staff are throwing open the doors to allow the community the see the inner workings of the hospital that normally only staff would have the opportunity to see.
General Manager of the Greater Newcastle Acute Hospital Network Todd McEwan said while most Novacastrians had been to
“Our staff do amazing work behind the scenes which allows us to constantly improve the care we provide our patients. What the community doesn’t get to see is the work that goes into ensuring that staff have the skills and knowledge to continue the life saving work that they do,” Mr McEwan said.
One of the places the tour group will have the chance to visit is the Skills and Simulation Lab.
“This lab is where we conduct hands-on training for our junior medical staff. The lab provides a simulated medical environment for staff to practice and train and we will give tour participants the opportunity to experience the lab for themselves,” Mr McEwan said.
“They will also have the opportunity to see first hand some of the latest innovations and techniques in cardiology, imaging and paediatrics.
“Our staff are really looking forward to sharing their working environment with members of the community and I would encourage anyone who has ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at a hospital to book a place in this tour,” he said.
“Places on the tour are strictly limited so please call and book your place today to avoid disappointment. We also ask people to remember that registration is essential to participate in the tour.”
