Scone expo promoting benefits of exercise
9 March 2010
Are you are aged 65-plus and want to learn more about the range of activities and health programs available in the Scone region?
If so, you’d better mark Wednesday 17 March in your diary. The Exercise is Medicine: A Prescription for Everyone expo will be held at the Scone Neighbourhood Centre on this day, from 10am to 2pm.
The event is free and will offer seniors the chance to access information about health and wellbeing programs and the extensive benefits of exercise.
A range of information stalls and guest speakers will be featured, as well as tai chi and yoga demonstrations.
There will also be health professionals on-hand to answer questions and to provide information about chronic disease, falls prevention and advance care planning.
HNE Health’s Kim Riley said the expo was designed to promote the benefits of remaining active throughout life in order to maintain muscle strength and fitness.
“Being fit and strong has a positive effect on meeting the health challenges that occur as we age,” Kim said.
The expo is being organised by Scone Neighbourhood Centre in conjunction with Hunter New England Health.
