Patients and their families will notice some changes to access to the hospital, now the new entrance is in place.
“People presenting to the Emergency Department will come to the new external entrance - which was previously the radiology waiting room – and is now marked by a large red Emergency sign,” Ms Simpson said.
“A buzzer and intercom system will alert staff of a patient’s presence, which is the same as the previous process for entering Emergency.
“Patients are then remotely let into the health service and escorted by nursing staff to the ED waiting room,” she said.
The Ambulance Service will also use this entry, with automatic access via swipe cards.
“There is no longer any access from the previous Emergency Department entrance at the rear of the hospital,” Ms Simpson said.
“Parking at the rear of the hospital is also no longer available.”
Ms Simpson said the health service appreciates the co-operation and understanding of the Narrabri community during the construction period.
“Community members are reminded to park in the new temporary car park at the front of the hospital and we appreciate people not parking in the designated HNE Health staff and pool car parks,” she said.
