Building on track for new Manilla MPS HealthOne

29 March 2010

The construction at Manilla Health Service is on track, with one half of the existing facility now demolished to make way for construction of the first half of the new facility.

Manilla Health Service Manager Tim Whyte said it was great to see the building going ahead.

“There was a lot of careful consideration that went into the planning for the new facility, so it’s great the community is now able to see work progressing,” Mr Whyte said.

“The aged care component of the health service has been taken down. The builders are currently removing debris from the site and levelling the site before the concrete slabs for the new build are poured in coming weeks.

“The first section of the new facility, which will be built in coming months, will house residential aged care, domestic services, some administration rooms and the first of the new acute care rooms.”

Construction of the facility began in January 2010 and is expected to be completed in 2012.

Mr Whyte said it was important the community understands that all services offered at Manilla Health Service will continue uninterrupted while construction of the new facility is underway.

“Our staff are working well to ensure we provide good quality care to patients while the work is going on,” Mr Whyte said. “We have relocated some of our services to the older part of the hospital to ensure there is minimal disruption to patient services.

“If you are unsure where a service is now located please ask one of our staff members who are more than happy to help you find what you are looking for.

“Please also note that parking on the site is now limited, but community members are welcome to park in Court St, outside the health service.

“If any community members have any questions about the redevelopment or access to our services they are more than welcome to get in touch with me at Manilla Health Service on 6785 4000,” Mr Whyte said.
