New roof for Glen Innes Hospital
29 June 2010
The Glen Innes Hospital roof will be removed this month to make way for a new Colourbond roof.
Glen Innes Hospital Acting Health Service Manager Matt Krug said this was a welcome upgrade for the hospital.
“We’re pleased that over the coming weeks it will be upgraded to a new Colourbond roof at a cost of $700,000,” Mr Krug said.
“Construction workers will be here on-site to start work from Monday 5 July and will complete the work during the next six weeks.”
Mr Krug said work on the new roof will not change the way services are provided at the health service.
“Patients and visitors will be able to access all of our services during this time,” he said.
Mr Krug said the community should be aware that some scaffolding will be put up around two entrances to the hospital during the construction.
“There will be scaffolding built over two of the smaller hospital doors at the rear of the main hospital building during construction,” Mr Krug said.
“People will still be able to walk through these doors, but I ask that everyone be mindful that the scaffolding will be arched over those doors and to watch your step when walking through.”
There will be no work or scaffolding around the front entrance to the hospital or the emergency department. The emergency department can be accessed normally.
