Forum plans to unite Novocastrians

The Greater Newcastle Community Forum on Health are holding their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 1 July at 5:30pm, upstairs at Diggers’ Mayfield (old Mayfield Ex-Services Club) and are urging more people to join their team.

Any resident of the Greater Newcastle area can join and have their say on important health issues that affect everyone.

Community Forum on Health members represent the community of Greater Newcastle and give feedback to Hunter New England Health on health and quality of service issues.

Chair of the Greater Newcastle Community Forum on Health Karen Harris said the forum was a great way to facilitate community involvement for better health outcomes.

“As part of the Forum, members are able to contribute to their community in a proactive way, providing support for the people of Greater Newcastle,” Ms Harris said.

“It’s important that our community has a voice on healthcare and I urge those with a passion to make a difference and an interest in health to nominate for this committee,” she said.

Community Forums on Health provide feedback and advice to Hunter New England Health about local health services in their respective regions, and are involved in monitoring, planning and the evaluation of services. Forums also help promote health and well-being in the community.

“We operate as an important part of Hunter New England Health’s community engagement framework, allowing people from a diverse range of backgrounds and interest areas to help shape the health of their community,” Ms Harris said.
