Support available for parents and children
18 January 2010
The Wee Waa Community Hospital is now holding Child and Family Health Service clinics every Tuesday at the Community Health Centre.
The service is staffed by health professionals who specialise in child and family health issues and provides support and assistance in caring for babies and young children.
The service also provides a first home visit to new mothers in the Wee Waa, Burren Junction, Gwabegar and Pilliga region.
“We offer a free community service that offers health and development checks, support, education and helpful tips, as well as information on developmental stages of babies and young children, and parenting and family issues,” Helen Haire, the Child and Family Health Nurse said.
The Child and Family Health Nurse is also able to:
• Spend time supporting and listening to parents
• Provide information about other services and groups available in the local area
• Provide support for breastfeeding
• Talk with parents about any concerns they have, support them and refer them to other services where appropriate.
