Moree Hospital rates among the best

19 January 2010

Access to care at Moree District Hospital is among the best of its peers in the state, according to the recently-released NSW Health 2009 Patient Survey.

The results of the 2009 patient survey, which were released by the NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Health Carmel Tebbutt late last year, show that Moree Hospital was rated the best among its peers in two categories.

“We were named the best among our peer* hospitals for access to care, with a score that was more than eight per cent higher than last year,” Clinical Nurse Manager Bronwyn Cosh said.

“This is a wonderful improvement.”

Moree Hospital was also named best among its peer hospitals for emergency department waiting times.

“It’s pleasing to see such good results come from the direct feedback of our patients,” Ms Cosh said.

“It tells us that we’re moving in the right direction and that people are generally pleased with the services we provide.”

About 80,000 patients across the state responded to the NSW Health 2009 Patient Survey which asked them to report on their recent experiences of the public health system.

“Our doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and support staff are providing a very high quality of care and I would like to thank all of our staff for their excellent work,” Ms Cosh said.

“I would also like to thank all of those patients who completed the survey.

“It’s this type of direct patient feedback which tells us not only what we’re doing well, but areas for improvement – all of which is helpful for us to keep providing a high standard of care,” she said.
