Free wound care clinic at Inverell
12 April 2010
Inverell district community members are being encouraged to take advantage of the free wound care clinic operating at Inverell Community Health Centre.
The clinic offers first-class nursing care to people of all ages and all wound types, and operates Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4pm by appointment. There is also a limited service available on weekends, by appointment.
Referrals to Inverell wound clinic can be made by General Practitioners, hospital staff or even by a family member or friend. People can also refer themselves.
The Inverell wound clinic has been running successfully for many years, with a range of innovative changes in wound care practices and service delivery introduced in recent times.
Nurse Unit Manager Belinda Robinson said the Inverell wound care team was focussed on developing best-practice approaches to the treatment of wound management.
“Our overall aim is to add to a patient’s comfort, care and safety, and by having dressings attended to at the Inverell Community Health Centre rather than at their home, community members don’t have to wait for a nurse to do a home visit,” Belinda said.
“We have great outcomes in regards to reducing the incidence of ulcers and better managing pain, and our team is constantly refreshing their clinical skills so they can deliver the best and most appropriate care to Inverell district community members.”
The Inverell Community Health wound clinic team comprises of a very experienced team: Registered Nurse Marilyn Ellis (has worked in wound care since 1989), Enrolled Nurse Lorraine Seagrott (wound care since 1993), Registered Nurse Barbara McCosker (wound care since 1994), Enrolled Nurse Jo Storm (wound care since 2009, but has worked in footcare since 1999).
