Awards night recognises quality and high achievers in health

Hunter New England Health will recognise some of its most innovative and committed staff this week at its 2009 Achievement Awards dinner.

The dinner is held each year to celebrate the people and projects that are influential in improving patient care across our health service.  This year, the awards dinner will be held on Thursday 10 September in Newcastle. The night will see winners of the Quality Awards and the Staff Achievement Awards announced.

The Quality Awards recognise the excellent work of HNE Health staff in increasing the standards of health improvement and patient care through continually improving service delivery.

The Staff Achievement Awards encourage and reward outstanding performance and are open to all individuals and teams from across the Area. These awards are a celebration of the exceptional contribution health service staff have made in their roles and to their communities.  This year a new category has been added, Volunteer/s of the Year, which recognises the invaluable contribution made by our volunteers.

Competition was very strong, with a record 87 Quality Award entries received and 75 entries received for the Achievement Awards.

Hunter New England Health Acting Chief Executive Tracey McCosker congratulated all finalists for their outstanding contributions to improving health services.

“My congratulations go to all the finalists for their commitment to their roles and their innovative projects,” Ms McCosker said.

“The care and dedication these people show to the community and their effort in improving health care is truly worth celebrating.

“Of course a night such as this would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors, particularly our major sponsor Prosperity.

“This event is a celebration of excellence, innovation and staff achievement and I look forward to joining the finalists at the awards dinner.”
